This unbranded release named Onyx Noir spends its middle stage on something considerably sweeter than its dark, gemstone-inspired name might suggest. Grapefruit and lemon open with a sharp, clean citrus freshness that gives no hint of the sweetness to come. Jasmine and caramel carry the middle together, floral and sugary at once, shifting the composition considerably from its citrus start. Amber, moss and vanilla wrap things up warm and rich, giving Reserve Onyx Noir Cologne a comforting, gourmand-leaning finish. Oriental gourmand is the fitting classification, dense enough for evening wear while remaining workable on a cooler afternoon.
