Giorgio Armani stripped this composition down to just four materials, a considerably leaner structure than the original Acqua Di Gio it's named after. Marine notes and green mandarin open with a crisp, watery freshness that stays true to the aquatic reputation of the wider line. Mimosa fills the entire core stage alone, soft and slightly powdery, offering the only floral note in an otherwise minimal build. Patchouli and labdanum close things out dark and resinous, giving Acqua Di Gio Profondo Eau de Toilette a considerably more serious finish than its aquatic opening implies. Aquatic woody is the fitting classification, versatile enough for daytime office wear while holding up comfortably into evening. It suits professional settings and casual outings equally well, given how clean the opening stays before that resinous close takes over. Spring and summer favor the marine top most, though the patchouli and labdanum finish keeps it wearable into cooler months too. Profondo earns its deeper name mainly through that dark, resinous close rather than anything happening at the top.
