Jean Paul Gaultier moves considerably further from the original Le Male's herbal fougère structure with this particular release than most flanker fragrances typically attempt. Pineapple, iris, ginger and cypress open with a bright, slightly powdery fruitiness that feels almost unrecognizable next to the brand's signature lavender-vanilla formula. Coconut and woodsy notes carry the core, soft and tropical, pulling the fragrance further from anything classically masculine in the traditional sense. Tonka bean, sandalwood, amber and ambergris round things out warm and smooth, giving Le Beau Le Parfum a comforting, grounded finish despite its unconventional tropical detour. Woody fruity is the fitting classification, versatile enough for daytime wear while holding up comfortably into evening. It suits casual outings, dates and warm-weather occasions about equally well. Spring and summer favor the pineapple, coconut character most, though the amber close keeps it wearable into cooler months too. That coconut note in the core is the detail that most separates this from anything else currently in Gaultier's wider Le Male lineup.
