Fourteen materials crowd the middle stage of White Diamonds, an extraordinarily dense stretch for a fragrance released decades before modern maximalist florals became common. Aldehydes, lily, neroli, orange and bergamot open with a bright, powdery freshness typical of classic-style perfumery from its era. Egyptian tuberose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, narcissus, carnation, Italian orris root, Turkish rose and cinnamon build an enormous floral middle, rich and spiced, the kind of density rarely attempted today. Musk, amber, sandalwood, oakmoss and patchouli close things out warm and grounded, giving White Diamonds Eau de Toilette its signature powdery, long-lasting conclusion. Floral aldehydic is the fitting classification, polished enough for evening wear yet workable on a cooler daytime occasion too. Elizabeth Taylor built this for formal events, dinners and any occasion calling for old-school glamour. Fall and winter favor the amber and sandalwood close most, though the floral middle holds its own presence regardless of season. Few fragrances from its era still command this kind of name recognition decades later.
