Cabochard Perfume Eau De Toilette - For Women

Cabotine was a trademark scent when it was released because it contained the scent of the elusive ginger-lily, a flower that did not last long enough for traditional methods of oil extraction. When the living flower method for scent extraction was discovered, the ginger lily scent became available and was used in Cabotine with other floral notes to create a feminine, easy-to-wear and unique scent.

SCENT

• The top notes are comprised of blackcurrant buds, pear, plum and coriander
• The middle notes are a composition of tuberose, rose, ylang-ylang, the famed ginger-lily, hyacinth, freesia, heliotrope, iris and violet.
• The base is comprised of cedar, vanilla, tonka beans, musk, amber and cybet.

Frangipani sits in the drydown of Gres Cabotine Rose Perfume, where you would normally expect a wood, while cherry blossom, pear, mandarin orange and black currant lead the top soft and fruited, delicate rather than juicy. Rose, peony, mimosa, pepper, lily, tuberose, jasmine and orange blossom form a core with rose at the centre and seven flowers arranged around it. Frangipani, musk, sandalwood and vetiver close it creamy and tropical, the frangipani keeping a floral thread alive long after the core has faded. Putting a flower in the drydown is what gives this its unusually long floral life, and it is why the rose never entirely disappears. Cabotine Rose Perfume is a floral Eau de Toilette, best suited to soft, feminine daytime occasions. Comfortable, dependable and unmistakably Gres, Cabotine Rose Perfume wears exactly as promised.

Remarkable daring shows from the very first moment in Gres Cabochard Perfume, uncompromising throughout its Eau de Parfum form. Aldehydes, sage, spices, tarragon, asafoetida, lemon, and fruity notes create a sharp, unconventional top note. Geranium, orris root, rose, jasmine, and ylang-ylang bring floral structure to the core. Leather, oakmoss, tobacco, vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood, musk, amber, and coconut deepen the drydown into a bold, animalic richness that lasts remarkably long on skin. Coconut, tucked deep into the drydown, remains just as unexpected here as in the lighter Eau de Toilette, though the added concentration gives it noticeably more room to breathe against all that leather and tobacco. Cabochard Perfume suits cooler months, day or night best, exactly what a chypre leather Eau de Parfum should do. That balance is exactly what makes Cabochard Perfume work.

Melon shows up in a fragrance called Gold, a lighter reading than the name suggests, and Gres Cabotine Gold Perfume leads with it alongside mandarin orange and pink pepper, juicy and lightly peppered, fresh rather than opulent. Jasmine, tiare flower and peony build a creamy tropical heart, the tiare handing it a sunlit, monoi like quality. Patchouli, vetiver and amber leave it earthy and warm, adding a grounding the fruit and flowers would otherwise lack. Nine ingredients handled with real restraint, and the composition feels modern, sunlit and beautifully uncluttered as a result. It is the most wearable of the three Cabotines by some distance. Anyone drawn to floral fruity fragrances will find Cabotine Gold Perfume, an Eau de Toilette, suits brunch dates and garden parties perfectly. Reach for Cabotine Gold Perfume again and again without ever tiring of it.

Eleven different flowers share one centre in Gres Cabotine Perfume, and somehow none of them elbow the others out, though coriander, orange blossom, cassia, black currant, plum, peach and tangerine lead first, fruity and green, the coriander adding a spiced edge underneath. Tuberose, hyacinth, carnation, jasmine, ginger, ylang ylang, rose, freesia, iris, heliotrope and violet crowd the centre with practically every white and powdery flower available. Civet, musk, black currant, vetiver, sandalwood, cedar, amber, tonka bean and vanilla resolve warm and faintly animalic, sensual and richly enveloping throughout. Black currant appearing in both the top and the base is the structural trick, tying the two ends together across an enormous middle. Gres built Cabotine Perfume as a floral green Eau de Parfum with daytime elegance and spring afternoons in mind. Cabotine Perfume is the kind of fragrance that quietly gets noticed.

The house of Gres built Cabotine Perfume around maximalist florals and real French confidence. Blackcurrant buds, pear, plum, and coriander crowd the top in a tart, spiced fruit rush, immediately dense and assertive from the very first spray. Tuberose, rose, ylang ylang, ginger lily, hyacinth, freesia, heliotrope, iris, and violet make up an extraordinarily dense floral core, layered with more detail than most fragrances attempt in an entire composition. Cedar, vanilla, tonka beans, musk, amber, and civet close the drydown in deep, animalic warmth, rich enough to anchor everything that came before it. Florals this abundant rarely stay quiet, and this one only grows louder as the evening goes on. Cabotine Perfume is a floral amber Eau de Toilette, best suited to office hours and casual dates. That balance is exactly what makes Cabotine Perfume work.
