Anne Elizabeth Jane Claiborne, known as Liz Claiborne is the founder of the Claiborne fashion brand. She is an American designer of Belgian origin. What drove her to start Claiborne was the frustration of not being able to find good everyday clothing for working women. It is also because of her that fashion stores started displaying clothing and products separated by brands and styles. The name of the company has been changed over the years, from Liz Claiborne Inc. to Fifth and Pacific Companies, and then to Kate Spade & Company. The product lines include clothing, accessories and fragrances for men and women.
