Jean Paul Gaultier

Le Beau Cologne Eau De Toilette - For Men

Created originally in 1993 by Jacques Cavallier, the bold sweetness of this perfume enchants you with its warm, floral scents. This perfume has something very few perfumes can boast of: a long lasting fragrance and a heavy to enormous sillage, leaving you wrapped up in its sweet and delicate scent for hours. This delightful perfume is perfect for cold winter nights, although you can pamper yourself with it any time of the year and any time of the day.

SCENT

• Top notes are bergamot, star anise, rose, mandarin orange, orange blossom
• Middle Notes are ylang-ylang, tuberose, orchid, plum, ginger, and iris
• Base notes are sandalwood, cinnamon, vanilla, musk, and amber

Jean Paul Gaultier built an entire visual identity around this bottle's torso shape, and the fragrance inside has held its own against that packaging for decades. Lavender, mint, cardamom, bergamot and artemisia open with a sharp, herbal freshness that's since become a genre-defining structure for men's fougères. Cinnamon, orange blossom and caraway build a spiced, slightly sweet core that softens the herbal top without losing its edge. Vanilla, tonka bean, amber, sandalwood and cedar close things out rich and warm, giving Le Male Eau de Toilette its distinctive gourmand-leaning conclusion. Aromatic fougère is the technical classification, though the vanilla-heavy close pushes it warmer than most fragrances in that family typically run. Le Male Cologne suits both daytime and evening wear comfortably, which has helped it remain a bestseller across multiple generations of wearers. Fall and winter let the vanilla and tonka close perform at its richest, though the lavender top keeps it wearable into spring. Decades after release, the lavender-vanilla contrast Gaultier struck here still hasn't been fully replicated by its many imitators.

Scandal is one of those fragrances that marks a change from the usual and presents us with something entirely new. While the design of the decanter certainly grips the attention, the soft fruity notes which are supported by fruitchouli and musk honey is something of a surprise compared to the typical gardenia of tuberose and rose.

SCENT

• Top Notes are Blood Orange and Mandarin Orange
• Middle Notes are Honey, Gardenia, Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Peach
• Base Notes are Patchouli, Beeswax, Caramel, Licorice

Jean Paul Gaultier keeps this Le Male flanker remarkably lean, built around just four materials across all three stages. Cardamom opens the composition alone, warm and spiced, offering little indication of the richness to come. Lavender and iris carry the core together, herbal and powdery at once, softening that spiced opening considerably. Vanilla, oriental notes and woodsy notes close things out rich and warm, giving Le Male Le Parfum its signature dense, gourmand-leaning finish. Oriental woody is the fitting classification, dense enough for evening wear while remaining workable on a cooler afternoon. It suits dinners, celebrations and any cool-weather occasion calling for serious richness. Fall and winter favor this dense structure most, once that warmth has had time to settle. Four materials doing all the work here proves this concentrated Le Male flanker doesn't need a long note list to feel complete.

Cool and herbal defines the opening of Le Male Elixir Cologne from Jean Paul Gaultier, lavender and mint arriving together right from the first spray. Vanilla and benzoin settle the heart into something warm and resinous, a shift from the cool opening. Honey, tonka bean and tobacco close the drydown deeply sweet and richly gourmand. That move from a cool, minty top to a honeyed, tobacco laced base is the entire emotional arc of this fragrance, freshness giving way to indulgence. Le Male Elixir Cologne is a gourmand aromatic Eau de Parfum, suited to evening wear and special occasions. Jean Paul Gaultier built warmth into the Le Male line here.

Jean Paul Gaultier moves considerably further from the original Le Male's herbal fougère structure with this particular release than most flanker fragrances typically attempt. Pineapple, iris, ginger and cypress open with a bright, slightly powdery fruitiness that feels almost unrecognizable next to the brand's signature lavender-vanilla formula. Coconut and woodsy notes carry the core, soft and tropical, pulling the fragrance further from anything classically masculine in the traditional sense. Tonka bean, sandalwood, amber and ambergris round things out warm and smooth, giving Le Beau Le Parfum a comforting, grounded finish despite its unconventional tropical detour. Woody fruity is the fitting classification, versatile enough for daytime wear while holding up comfortably into evening. It suits casual outings, dates and warm-weather occasions about equally well. Spring and summer favor the pineapple, coconut character most, though the amber close keeps it wearable into cooler months too. That coconut note in the core is the detail that most separates this from anything else currently in Gaultier's wider Le Male lineup.

Jean Paul Gaultier introduces an especially literal beach reference into the middle of this fragrance, an odd touch for something built around a garden concept. Green notes, watery notes, mint and ginger open with a crisp, cooling freshness that sets an immediately tropical tone. Coconut, fig and salt carry the middle, sweet and briny at once, an unusual pairing that gives the composition its distinct identity. Tonka bean and sandalwood close the composition, warm and smooth, giving Le Beau Paradise Garden Eau de Parfum a comforting, grounded conclusion. Aromatic fruity is the fitting classification, light enough for daytime wear and built squarely for warm-weather occasions. It suits beach days, casual outings and warm-weather gatherings about equally well. Spring and summer are its natural season, though the tonka and sandalwood close keeps it wearable into early fall. That coconut-and-salt pairing is the detail that most separates this from a standard tropical fruity fougère.

Blue lotus alone opens La Belle Paradise Garden Perfume from Jean Paul Gaultier, soft and aquatically floral without another note in sight. Iris carries the heart solo, powdery and cool, a gentle contrast to the lotus above it. Vanilla closes the drydown warm and sweet. Blue lotus is a rare, evocative choice for a solo top note, and it sets a dreamy, garden like tone right from the first spray. La Belle Paradise Garden Perfume is a floral gourmand Eau de Parfum, suited to daytime elegance. Jean Paul Gaultier built serenity into this entry in the La Belle line.
